My Story

I didn't get into this to train athletes. I got into it to help people who never thought fitness was for them.

I've been an ACE certified personal trainer since 2011. In that time I've worked with a wide range of people, and I've learned something important: the clients who often have the most to gain from strength training are the ones who feel most out of place in a conventional gym.

My specialty is working with adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who are new to lifting or coming back to it after a long break. People who are ready to do something, but aren't sure what that something is. People whose doctors told them they need to build muscle and who are taking that seriously. People who've tried before and stopped, and who want to finally figure out why it didn't stick.

I've spent over a decade learning how to make strength training feel approachable, purposeful, and genuinely enjoyable for that population. Not by dumbing it down, but by meeting people at their actual starting point and building from there.

My focus isn't on weight loss. It's on building real, functional strength and body awareness, the kind that changes how you feel getting up from a chair, how you carry groceries, how you move through your days. The weight stuff tends to follow when people start actually getting stronger. But strength is the goal, and that reframe matters.

How I Coach

What you can actually expect.

I'm not a cheerleader and I'm not a drill sergeant. I'm someone who pays close attention, asks good questions, and builds programs that make sense for the person in front of me.

I'm nerdy about the research on strength, bone density, metabolism, and the neuroscience of habit formation. I bring that into the work without turning sessions into lectures. You'll understand why we're doing what we're doing, and that makes a difference.

We start where you actually are

Not where you think you should be, not where someone else is. Your current fitness level, your body, your schedule, your history. That's the starting point.

A gym without the gym atmosphere

The independent gym at 835 E. 18th Ave has no membership fees, no front desk to walk past, and no crowded floor. It's low-key, lower-traffic, and set up for focused work.

Strength over aesthetics

We measure progress by what your body can do. Lifts going up. Posture improving. Energy increasing. These are the metrics that matter and that last.

Consistency over intensity

Sustainable habits beat heroic efforts every time. We build a practice that fits your life, not a program that requires your life to revolve around it.

Where We Train

In-person in Denver, or live via Zoom, wherever you are.

In-person training happens at 835 E. 18th Ave in Denver. It's an independent gym, no membership fees, no sign-up requirements. A few other trainers work there, but it's genuinely less crowded and less intimidating than a big-box facility. You don't walk past a front desk, navigate a locker room, or wait for equipment. You show up and we work.

A lot of my clients tell me the gym environment was what finally got them through the door. That makes sense. Learning something new in a new body, in front of strangers is uncomfortable. This setup removes most of that friction.

For clients who aren't in Denver or who prefer more flexibility, I offer full personal training via Zoom. Live sessions where I'm with you the entire time, the same as if we were in the gym together. You can train at home, at your gym, or wherever you happen to be. Many of my longest client relationships are fully remote.
